Quote Writing Guide
Remember these three things before writing
A quote entry is not a long, perfect document. It is a clear and accurate record of one expression.
One entry, one quote
Use what is heard
Facts and context
1. Choose the type first
Use Habit (HABIT) for expression patterns that need another word inserted to be complete. Use Quote (QUOTE) when the title stands on its own and should be indexed alphabetically.
đĄ Examples make it easier
Marking every repeated standalone expression as a Habit
~ę° ě or ââ ëë â Habit / ëëęł ë â Quote
â Check
- Check whether ~ or ââ is a real replaceable slot rather than vocal elongation.
- Keep standalone expressions as Quotes even when repeated so they appear in the ę°ëë¤ or ABC index.
2. Write the title as it is heard
Readers should know what they will hear from the title alone. Keep reactions and long scene explanations in the content only when needed.
đĄ Examples make it easier
The legendary moment when the boss battle was really surprising
That really startled me!
â Check
- Center the title on words that were actually spoken.
- Check for an exact title and type duplicate before creating a new entry.
3. Leave factual context in the content
Briefly explain the circumstances around the expression. Do not guess at emotions, intent, or relationships that cannot be verified.
đĄ Examples make it easier
They were clearly angry and attacked the viewers here.
This was said while checking chat immediately after losing the game.
â Check
- Describe a situation and sequence that another person can verify.
- Prioritize context needed for understanding over personal evaluation.
4. Add sources and Vuttons when useful
Sources and Vuttons are both optional. Add a verifiable URL or a public Vutton from the same Creator when available; text alone is still a complete entry.
đĄ Examples make it easier
Enter an unverified URL only because no Vutton or source is available
Save the text first, then add a verifiable URL or public Vutton when one is available
â Check
- Confirm that a source suggested from a Vutton matches the quote context.
- Keep a needed source separately even if the linked Vutton is removed.
5. Make a record others can improve
Any ACTIVE user can edit a quote. Do not add personal data, manipulation, harassment, or distorted context, and correct inaccurate information with current facts.
đĄ Examples make it easier
Include personal data, assume intent, or add a demeaning description
Keep only verifiable speech and context, then correct the record when an error is found
â Check
- Do not arbitrarily link or translate quotes written in another language.
- Check the latest content before editing so another contributor's work is not overwritten.
